Candi Slobodnik: A Trailblazer in the Title Industry

Championing Mentorship, Leadership, and Empowerment

In the dynamic world of title insurance, success is often forged through resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous growth. Candi Slobodnik embodies these qualities, bringing 16 years of experience, an impressive breadth of expertise, and a deep passion for mentorship to the industry. As a key figure in title insurance, Candi’s journey reflects a dedication to breaking barriers, empowering women, and elevating the industry as a whole.

A Journey from Claims to Leadership

Candi’s entry into title insurance was serendipitous—one that required a quick Google search before an interview. While working as a contract attorney, a friend informed her of an opening in Omaha’s claims center, and with curiosity as her guide, she stepped into the world of title insurance. From claims to underwriting and now business development, she has intentionally worked across multiple facets of the industry to build a well-rounded perspective. “I want to be in the room where it happens,” she shares, emphasizing her commitment to having a voice in leadership and making an impact for the agencies she serves.

Championing Women in Title

Candi acknowledges the gender gap in leadership positions within the title industry but refuses to let it define her trajectory. Instead, she has embraced her voice, ensuring that she speaks up—not just for herself, but for those who may not feel empowered to do so. “A woman speaking up often carries a different connotation than a man saying the same thing in the same way,” she observes. By standing firm in her convictions, she is paving the way for future generations of women to step confidently into leadership roles.

Building Bridges, Not Rivalries

One of Candi’s biggest lessons for women of title is the importance of collaboration over competition. Early in her career, she believed she had to prove she was better than her female colleagues. Over time, she realized that true success lies in uplifting others. “There’s room for more than one of us at the top,” she states. Encouraging women to support one another, rather than viewing each other as competition, is a principle she champions wholeheartedly.

The Power of Mentorship

Throughout her career, Candi has been fortunate to have strong mentors, including Cheryl Cowherd, who played a pivotal role in shaping her as a young underwriter. Now, she dedicates herself to mentorship, ensuring that the next generation of title professionals is equipped with the knowledge, confidence, and leadership skills they need to thrive. “Passing the torch is my legacy,” she shares. “Mentoring and education have always been my passion, and I hope I’ve helped empower the next generation.”

Confidence, Grit, and the Drive to Keep Going

What keeps Candi moving forward in a demanding industry? A strong foundation in mental health and physical fitness. Recognizing the dangers of burnout, she prioritizes self-care and boundaries. “Just because I can do something doesn’t mean I have to,” she reflects. This philosophy helps her remain at the top of her game, both professionally and personally.

Beyond Title: A Life of Passion and Adventure

Outside of work, Candi is an avid reader, dog lover, and traveler who embraces the mantra, Work hard, play harder. She volunteers as a guardian for an incapacitated ward in Iowa, cherishes her role as an aunt, and once held a college scholarship for playing the tuba. Her passion for music runs deep—so much so that she has the title of a John Mayer song, Love is a Verb, tattooed on her arm, a reminder of the significance of action over words.

Wisdom to Live and Lead By

For Candi, success is about controlling what can be controlled. “A boss once told me, ‘Control the controllable,’ and that’s something I live by.” This mindset keeps her grounded, focused, and ready to tackle challenges head-on.

As she continues to make waves in the title industry, Candi’s ultimate goal remains clear—empowering others, fostering a culture of collaboration, and leaving a lasting legacy of mentorship and education.

“I love seeing a community build each other up rather than compete,” she says. “Helping each other with hurdles and experiences only makes us better as a whole.”

In a world where leadership is often measured by the number of deals closed, Candi Slobodnik redefines success through the lives she impacts, the voices she amplifies, and the future leaders she inspires.

Thank you, Candi for your passion, your heart, and for being an inspiration to all those in Her.Collective!
