Women of Title Spotlight: Debra J. Coffie

A Legacy of Leadership, Integrity, and Heart in the Title Insurance Industry

At Her.Collective, we believe in celebrating the women who not only shape the title insurance industry but also lift others as they climb. This month, we are proud to spotlight Debra J. Coffie, a woman whose 30-year journey in title insurance reflects the power of perseverance, leadership, and unwavering integrity.

A Career That Found Her—and Changed Her Life

Debra J. Coffie didn’t set out to build a career in title insurance—it found her. Inspired in her youth by the movie Working Girl and its fierce heroine, Debra dreamed of working in the corporate world, scaling ladders in high-rise buildings. After earning her degree in Business Management and relocating to Oviedo, Florida, she took her first job at a local manufacturing company. But when she was told the company did not allow women to advance into management, an unexpected opportunity emerged: a role at Lawyers Title Insurance in downtown Orlando.

Starting as a receptionist, Debra could never have imagined that title insurance would become her lifelong calling. But as one wise examiner told her on her first day: “You’ll never get out of this business.” And she was right. Debra not only stayed—she thrived, becoming a respected leader known for her strategic mind, her commitment to service, and her deep care for the people around her.

Building Success, Shaping Teams, and Leading with Purpose

Today, Debra serves as Senior Vice President and National Operations Manager, as well as Florida Regional Manager, for Alliant National Title Insurance Company. She helped launch Alliant’s Florida Region in 2009, building and leading teams across underwriting, production, and sales. Her leadership extends nationally as she oversees the company’s Operations Center, ensuring compliance, customer service excellence, and agent success across the board.

Her heart has always been on the agency side—a place where relationships matter most, and where she can help others succeed. Her work is grounded not only in operational strategy but in a culture of excellence, mentorship, and service.

The Power of Mentorship and the Women Who Paved the Way

Debra’s success is intertwined with the guidance and example of women who came before her. Early in her career, Cindy Taylor and Pam Saylors provided invaluable mentorship. Later, industry trailblazers like Shelley Stewart and Amy Gregory showed Debra what it meant to lead with integrity, grit, and grace. These relationships shaped her belief in the importance of women supporting women—a belief she lives out daily.

“I’ve always paid attention to women in leadership because for a long time, they were few and far between,” Debra shares. “I knew that every door they opened, every ceiling they cracked, was making space for women like me.”

Overcoming Challenges and Paving the Way for Others

As in many industries, the title insurance field has been historically male-dominated at the leadership level, despite being powered by a predominantly female workforce. Debra knows this firsthand. “Women in this industry often have to work twice as hard to be taken seriously,” she says. But she also believes that every challenge has shaped her into the leader she is today—one who speaks up, stands firm, and lifts others along the way.

Her advice to women entering the field is simple yet profound: Don’t wait to be invited to the table, pull up your own chair. She encourages young women to stay curious, build relationships, and never underestimate the impact they can make.

A Legacy of Faith, Family, and Service

For Debra, leadership isn’t just about business, it’s about people. Her faith is her cornerstone, giving her strength and purpose through every high and low. “I truly believe I was called to this industry,” she says. “I know I’m here to make a difference not just in business, but in people’s lives.”

Her family is her greatest source of joy: her husband of nearly 40 years, Tony; their three children; and their ever-growing tribe of grandchildren—currently seven, with Debra playfully hoping for three more to round it out to ten. Two of her children have followed her into the title industry, a living testament to the legacy she is building not just in business, but in life.

Beyond work, Debra’s creativity shines, she plays the piano, paints, draws, and teaches, sharing her wisdom at women’s events and in her church community. These hidden talents feed her soul and bring balance to her life.

Leading with Integrity: The Word That Defines Her

If there’s one word that defines Debra J. Coffie’s approach to business and leadership, it’s integrity. She believes that integrity is the foundation of trust, and without trust, no relationship or business can thrive. She leads by example, always striving to do what’s right, even when it’s hard, and she hopes this is the legacy she leaves behind: one of service, character, and impact.

“I want to be remembered as someone who created space for others to grow, who led with heart, and who never hesitated to help others succeed,” Debra says. “If I’ve inspired others to believe they belong at the table, then I’ve done something meaningful.”

Final Thoughts for the Women of Her.Collective

To the women of Her.Collective, Debra offers these words:

You belong here. You are not in this industry by accident. There is purpose in your presence and power in your voice. Never doubt the value you bring. Keep showing up, keep learning, and lead—even if your voice shakes. Support one another, celebrate one another, and always make room for the next woman behind you. We rise higher when we rise together.

With wisdom forged through decades of experience, a heart grounded in faith, and a fierce dedication to lifting others, Debra J. Coffie exemplifies what it means to be a woman of title. Thank you for sharing your inspiring journey in title, Debra, we have a lot to live up to!

Leading with Grace, Grit, and Unshakable Integrity.

This week, Her.Collective is proud to shine the spotlight on a woman who has earned her place at the top through decades of dedication, a heart for people, and a fierce commitment to doing things the right way. Meet Sarah Paty, President of Trinity Title of Texas, a dynamic leader based in North Texas, who’s spent more than 20 years shaping the future of title insurance through strategy, strength, and a servant’s heart.

A Summer Job That Became a Calling.

Sarah’s journey into title wasn’t planned—it was personal. She began working in the business as a summer job, thanks to her mother, Cheryl Finney. But it didn’t take long for Sarah to realize there was something deeper here. She was drawn to the fast pace, the people, and the profound role the title industry plays in people’s biggest life transitions.

She started from the ground up and never stopped learning. “What began as a summer job quickly became something more,” she reflects. “I found a place where I could grow, lead, and make an impact.”

Today, as President of Trinity Title, Sarah oversees company operations, strategic direction, and client relationships. Her expertise in risk management, regulatory compliance, and team leadership is matched only by her deep understanding of what it takes to guide people through meaningful work.

A Legacy of Mentorship—and Mentors.

For Sarah Paty, leadership was modeled long before it was practiced. Her earliest inspiration came from her mother, Cheryl Finney, who introduced her to the title industry. “She showed me what it means to lead with integrity and compassion,” Sarah reflects. “Watching her stand firm in her values while caring deeply for people shaped how I lead today.”

Her greatest mentor, though, has been her father, Larry Finney. “He never gave me easy answers—he asked the right questions,” she says. His quiet strength, integrity, and steady guidance laid the foundation for Sarah’s approach to leadership. “When I doubted myself, he reminded me of my strength. When I succeeded, he reminded me to stay grounded. His wisdom still echoes in how I lead.”

Another pivotal influence in Sarah’s journey has been John Dwyer. “He didn’t just open doors—he trusted me to walk through them and lead.” In a male-dominated industry, his belief in her potential gave her the confidence and space to grow into her role as an executive. “John pushed me to think bigger, lead bolder, and trust my instincts.”

Together, these mentors shaped Sarah’s values, confidence, and leadership philosophy.

“We don’t rise alone. I am who I am because others believed in me—and now it’s my turn to be that for someone else.”

Balancing the Boardroom and the Homefront.

For Sarah, one of the greatest challenges has been learning to balance professional drive with personal presence. “Being fully present at work without sacrificing the time and energy my family deserves isn’t easy,” she admits. “But I’ve learned that taking care of myself isn’t selfish—it’s necessary if I want to show up well for my husband, kids, and team.”

Her approach to leadership is grounded in consistency, not perfection. “There’s no such thing as perfect balance. I’ve found peace in giving myself permission to pause, reset, and be where my feet are.”

Advice to Women Entering the Industry.

Sarah encourages young women in title to start at the foundation. “Learn every part of the business. The more you understand—from the front desk to the closing table—the more confident you’ll be.”

And when it comes to showing up? “Don’t wait to be invited to the table. Bring your own chair. Speak up, ask questions, and find mentors who challenge and support you.”

Weathering the Storms and Growing from Them.

Sarah’s “why” is deeply rooted in her belief that strength comes from struggle. “What’s kept me going is knowing I can do hard things—and do them well,” she says. “A calm sea never made a skilled sailor. It’s in the unexpected turns where you really grow.” Her clarity, confidence, and consistency have been forged in challenge—and it’s made her an unshakable force in title.

Books, Podcasts, and Grounded Growth.

Sarah finds growth in the voices of leaders and thinkers who challenge her. A few of her favorite books include:

  • Atomic Habits by James Clear

  • The Hard Thing About Hard Things by Ben Horowitz

  • Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

As for podcasts, she tunes into:

  • Craig Groeschel Leadership Podcast

  • Vanessa Van Edwards

  • Mark Driscoll

These voices help sharpen her leadership lens and keep her grounded in intentional growth.

Grace Under Pressure.

When it comes to handling difficult people, Sarah leads with steadiness. “I don’t match intensity with intensity—I meet it with clarity and boundaries,” she says. “Confidence doesn’t mean being loud; it means being firm, fair, and unwilling to back down from what’s right.” Her advice to women: “Stay composed under pressure. Don’t let someone else’s behavior dictate your own.”

Leading With Heart and High Character.

Sarah believes our industry needs more leaders who focus not just on profit, but on people. “Doing the right thing—even when it’s hard—matters. I’ve always tried to lead with integrity and lift others as I climb.”

She knows that trust and relationships are the real currency in title. “Long-term success isn’t about the next closing—it’s about how you treat people.”

Faith, Family, and Her Why.

Sarah’s strength comes from deep roots. “My faith is my foundation,” she says. “Prayer, reflection, and spiritual grounding keep me steady—especially when things feel uncertain.”

Her husband, Justin, is her partner in every way. “He’s my constant support and sounding board.” Together, they’re raising two boys, Case (14) and Cam (10)—who inspire her daily to lead with love and purpose.

Her village extends beyond family, to a circle of truth-speaking friends and family who show up with support, honesty, and a whole lot of love.

Passions Beyond the Office.

Away from the office, Sarah finds peace in the outdoors. “I love hunting, fishing, and being outside with my family. I also have a passion for travel and old architecture—there’s something inspiring about places that have stood the test of time.”

Sarah’s not a big fan of crowds, but she made an exception for one artist: George Strait at Kyle Field. “That was my first concert—and it was unforgettable. His music just feels like home.”

Living Her Word: Integrity.

If there’s one word that defines Sarah’s leadership, it’s integrity. “It means doing the right thing—even when no one is watching. Success isn’t just about the deal. It’s about the reputation and legacy you leave behind.”

Building a Legacy That Lasts.

Sarah hopes her legacy will be one of grace, purpose, and people-first leadership.

“I want to be remembered as someone who created space for others to grow and succeed without losing who they are. In a business driven by speed, I hope I’m remembered for slowing down long enough to care.”

Final Words for the Women of Her.Collective.

“At the end of the day, I’m just someone who showed up, worked hard, stayed rooted in faith, and led with heart. If my story reminds even one woman that she can lead with strength and grace—and still be fully herself—then it’s worth sharing.”

Thank you, Sarah Paty, for being a bold and steady presence in title, a builder of people and purpose, and a Woman of Title we are so proud to spotlight. You lead with grit, but always with grace—and that’s exactly what makes you unforgettable!

Her.Collective Friday Feature Lauren King: The Advocate Behind the Curtain of Title Insurance

Today’s Her.Collective Feature shines a unique spotlight on a remarkable woman whose influence is felt far beyond the closing table. In a world where legislation and land rights quietly shape the future of real estate, Lauren King stands out as a passionate advocate, skilled communicator, and trusted voice for the title insurance industry in Arizona. With persistence, purpose, and a deep understanding of policy, Lauren works tirelessly behind the scenes to protect and promote the work we all do—impacting not just regulations, but the professionals and families they serve. Lauren brings a unique—and crucial—voice to the women of title.

From Policy Rooms to Title Rooms: A Career with Purpose

Lauren’s journey into the title industry didn’t follow the traditional route of escrow desks and file stacks. Instead, she came through the doorway of policy and legislative affairs, where she quickly developed a reputation for being an articulate, passionate, and persuasive champion for the title community.

Working in Arizona, she has spent years helping lawmakers and decision-makers understand the nuances of title insurance, land use, and property rights. “My role is to ensure the people who shape policy understand how vital the title industry is to protecting consumers and ensuring clean, legal property ownership,” Lauren explains. “It’s not just about documents. It’s about security, access, and equity.”

Her work has involved everything from grassroots advocacy campaigns to legislative strategy and stakeholder education. “It’s often behind the curtain,” she says, “but it’s where change begins.”

Rooted in Arizona, Reaching Across the Industry

Based in Arizona, Lauren has worked tirelessly to connect professionals across the state—from industry veterans to up-and-coming leaders—around common causes. Through her work with the Land Title Association of Arizona, she’s helped modernize outdated regulations, strengthen consumer protections, and preserve the vital role of independent title agents.

Yet what stands out most is Lauren’s ability to bring people together. Whether organizing legislative visits at the State Capitol or mentoring new professionals at industry events, she’s always focused on building relationships.

“Collaboration is everything,” she says. “The best outcomes come when people sit at the same table, listen to each other, and work toward shared goals. And in title, that means everyone wins—agents, underwriters, lenders, and homeowners.”

A Champion for Women in Title

Lauren is not only a voice for the industry at large—she’s a fierce advocate for the women working within it. She recognizes that for many, especially those in smaller or rural communities, leadership opportunities aren’t always easy to come by. That’s why she pours energy into mentorship and elevating other women through her network and advocacy work.

“We need more women at the forefront—leading discussions, serving on boards, and shaping policy,” she says.

Lauren credits several mentors along the way for helping her find her own path—and now she’s paying it forward. Whether it’s preparing women to speak to legislators, guiding them through board involvement, or helping them find their voice in male-dominated rooms, Lauren leads with humility, warmth, and determination.

Advocacy With Heart: Her “Why”

For Lauren, advocacy isn’t just about rules and reforms—it’s about people. “At the end of every policy I advocate for is a family trying to buy a home,” she says. “It’s a title agent trying to do their job well. It’s a community growing safely and sustainably. That’s my why.”

She has a real respect for the role title insurance plays in society. “Most people don’t know what title insurance really is,” Lauren laughs. “But when something goes wrong, they suddenly understand how important it is.

Her proudest moments aren’t always the headline wins—they’re the quiet victories: helping prevent legislation that would have harmed small title agents, supporting access to continuing education, or ensuring new technologies are regulated fairly.

Strong Roots, Strong Voice

Whether working in the state capitol or at a conference table, she shows up with purpose and professionalism.

“Integrity is everything,” she says. “You can’t fake it. You have to live it, speak it, and stand by it—even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard.”

She’s known for her poise under pressure, her ability to navigate high-stakes negotiations with grace, and her unshakable joy. “You have to love what you do,” she reflects. “And if you don’t—find a way to love the why behind it.”

Love for the Outdoors

Outside of her advocacy work, Lauren is grounded by her community, friends, and a deep

Love for the outdoors. Whether snowboarding in the San Juan Mountains, rafting the Colorado River or running in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve, she’s happiest when she’s outside.

In Closing

Thank you for the unwavering dedication you bring in advocating for the title industry and the empowering example you set. You truly embody the core values that Her.Collective was built upon. Your story is a powerful reminder that we are all capable of reaching higher and making a meaningful impact.
